ABOUT THE TEN SERIES

The most common method for a person to incorporate Structural Integration into their life is through a sequence known as the Ten Series, also developed by Dr. Ida Rolf. In a series of ten sessions, the practitioner seeks to align, lengthen, and organize the fascia, focusing on a different parts of the body in each session. At the end of the Ten Series, good posture is effortless and breathing is easier; the body becomes more flexible and more coordinated; and athletic performance improves. Generally, clients are encouraged to go through the Ten Series at least seven times throughout their lives.

Here’s what to expect.

Sessions 1-3

These first sessions focus on loosening and balancing the superficial fascia. The first session enhances the quality of breath with work on the arms, rib cage, and diaphragm. We also start opening tissues along the upper legs, hamstrings, neck and spine. The second session helps give the body a stable foundation by balancing the foot, lower leg, and extension in the back. The third session aims to balance the shoulder girdle, trunk, and pelvis front-to-back.

Sessions 4-7

Next, we address the core through the inner leg lines, pelvis, trunk, neck, and head. The fourth session begins to balance the inner leg line from the foot to pelvis, which increases the health in the pelvic floor and support in the legs. The fifth session continues organizing core structures, focusing on the trunk to balance the abdominal wall, psoas, and lumbars. The sixth session seeks to ground the system by lengthening the back line of the legs, pelvis, and lower back, and the seventh session brings our focus to the head and neck.

Sessions 8-10

The remaining three sessions provide an opportunity for me to build on the previous established functions, continuing to improve your relationship with gravity. The eighth and ninth sessions address either the upper or lower body, revisiting areas previously worked to integrate both girdles. The tenth session is the completion of the series, bringing order and balance to the entire body. It will leave you with a sense of order, ease of movement, and balance.

fascia loves to connect, joints yearn to move."
THE INTENSIVE

The Intensive is the fastest and potentially most transformative way to approach this work. Inspired by work I’ve done with Ido Portal over the last few years and improved thanks to his feedback, it is the most potent version of the The Ten Series that I offer. .

For The Intensive, we make arrangements to do concentrated work together over a week or more. Some clients have come to my office in Montclair, New Jersey, and stayed for two weeks. In other cases, I’ve flown to work with clients in places like Thailand and India. I like to think of The Intensive as a time release capsule: Work that would typically be performed over five to ten weeks is condensed to seven to fourteen days. It’s fast and intense, and your body will likely be integrating the results for several months after the process.

The Intensive is not recommended for everyone. It’s best suited for those who are healthy and active, with a strong commitment to personal evolution. The Intensive is best arranged three to six months in advance.

Craniosacral Work

Craniosacral work focuses on the 22 bones that make up the human head, on the brain and central nervous system, and on the spine and the sacrum. Craniosacral practitioners work to improve the position, fluid movement, and energy of the parts of this system. In essence, it’s very high-level energy work for the body.  I studied craniosacral work with Hugh Milne. Hugh is one of the most gifted healers I’ve had the honor to study with, and he has taught me how to touch clients in a precise manner that helps them feel more aligned and more at home in themselves. He calls his work Visionary Craniosacral Work and often refers to it as “the art of listening.” I often think that craniosacral work is listening and Structural Integration is doing.
